The orange rival event will not trigger until you have rescued the required 60 Harvest Sprites necessary for marriage. The events also must go in order so if you haven't seen the blue Rival Event and the boy is at a green color, the event will not activate until he is back to a blue color and you can't skip ahead to see the orange event. Eligible Girls from Mineral Town: If you insert a copy of FoMT or MFoMT into your DS with your DS Harvest Moon game, you will unlock characters from Mineral Town and will be able to marry any of. In Harvest Moon: Back to Nature you have the opportunity to marry one of five different girls. The BF system allows you to have a Best Friend instead of a husband. Jump to a Section: Heart Levels, Gift Giving, Events, Marriage, Rivals or Your Child. That is opposite of your own Heart Events, which can occur if the boy is at the specified color or above. In Harvest Moon DS Cute, the 4 Special girls that were normally available to marry in the boy version are now available to become your best friend. The Rival Events will occur if a boys heart color is at the matching rival heart requirement level or below. Ann, Mary, Popuri, Elli and Karen do make appearances in your game if you connect to FoMT, but they won't try and win away Cliff, Gray, Kai, Rick or Trent. The boys from Mineral Town ( Cliff, Gray, Kai, Rick and Trent) and the other special boy ( Skye) do not have any rivals to contend with. If you see all 4 of the Rival Events then the couple will marry, whether you want them to or not. Each of these rivals have a set of Rival Events just like your own Heart events.
The five "normal" Bachelors also have female rivals who are trying to win their hearts.
